Barrett, who started the race in 23rd, had the following to say in victory lane; “Just recently, we hit a fantastic set-up. As usual, he ran me cleanly; it was a lot of fun”. Rob Corey, Kevin Talbot, and Mark Cooper completed the top-five.

WATERFORD, CT. Aug 25, 2007 - In a battle of siblings, it was Chris Bakaj narrowly prevailing over his brother Mark in the caution-filled 20-lap Legends feature at Waterford Speedbowl on Wednesday evening. Just past the halfway point, Chris took the lead and went on to win by a scant margin.
Other feature winners were Richard “Bubby” Brouwer (X Modified), Steve Barrett
(Super X Car), and, Michael Trask (X Car).
“My car was rolling through the corners much better than my brother’s car tonight, that was the difference,” said Bakaj. “I love this car right now; it’s the fastest it’s ever been.”
Completing the top-5 were Glen Billings, Curt D’Addario Jr., and Jason Palmer.
Other feature winners were Richard “Bubby” Brouwer (X Modified), Steve Barrett
(Super X Car), and, Michael Trask (X Car).
Steve Barrett won the first Super X feature of his career, after a furious
side-by-side duel with Joe Campbell.
“Campbell was tough tonight, but his car was pushing a lot and I was able to take advantage of it,” said Barrett. “I’ve had so much support from everybody, but especially my wife, my oldest son Steven who’s my crew chief, and of course, the Moran family. It feels great to finally win one.”
Rounding out the top-5 was Campbell, Jon Porter, Greg Moran Sr., and, Greg Moran Jr.
Michael Trask was another first-time winner, as he handily scored the caution-free X Car main event. “The car was really overheating badly tonight, but I decided to push it anyway and managed to keep it off the wall. This win is dedicated to my parents who are both hospitalized right now. After I get out of here, I’m bringing the trophies right down to them at the hospital,” commented an emotional Trask from the winners circle.
Point leader Richard “Bubby” Brower scored his eight X Modified feature of the
season over David Flammia Jr., Chris Drouin Jr., Kevin Shea, and Bill Gerstch Jr.
“I won that one on the restart,” stated Brouwer. “These races are getting tougher and tougher each week. I love racing with these guys, it’s gotten so competitive. It’s not easy to win in this class.”
In the special “Cops & Robbers” event, Mark Cooper prevailed as the “Top Cop”,
while “Top Robber” honors were taken by Patrick Williams.
Once again, there were over 100 cars taking part in Wild ‘N Wacky Wednesday action
East Hartford, CT’s George Correra outdueled fellow Waterford Speedbowl regular Steve Barrett to claim the 25-lap feature for the Kraze’s Speed Equipment Pure Stock division at Seekonk Speedway on Sunday evening, August 5, in conjunction with the 1/3-mile Bay State oval’s Demolition Derby-Monster Truck Sunday Spectacular.
Rookie Bob Hinckley started on the pole and led the first half-dozen laps with Steve Cromwell, Charles Beal, Carlos Silva, and Rob Corey in tow. As Cromwell applied the pressure to Hinckley, Silva and Corey took him three-wide for second, with Corey coming away with the honor.
Barrett, meanwhile, quickly advanced from the 15th starting berth using the high line, taking fourth on lap 5. After some brief side-by-side racing, Corey and Barrett swept the top two positions as the field completed the seventh circuit. Correra had advanced from the 17th starting spot to third when the lone caution was displayed after Amy Arsenault tangled with Carlos Silva, sending the #77 spinning.
Barrett snatched the lead on the restart with Corey and Correra following. Point leader Bill Chouinard worked his way to fourth, with previous race winner Mark Boisvert and Cromwell in fifth and sixth.
Correra claimed second from Corey on lap 14 and was followed into third by Chouinard three circuits later. Correra took the inside lane away from Barrett and led lap 20, but Barrett countered in the outside groove. Coming to the two-to-go signal, Correra smartly used a lapped car as a pick, trapping Barrett behind the slower machine en route to victory in his first visit to the speedway. “This place is awesome,” the winner announced. “It was great coming here to race today. I hope we can come back at some point.”
Barrett finished second with Chouinard, who extended his lead atop the standings to 16 points, in third. Corey was fourth, followed by Steve Cromwell and Scott Cestodio. Charles Beal was seventh, ahead of Hinckley, Boisvert, and Tom Blackwell, who started and finished in tenth position.
